In order to commemorate centenary of the CPC, inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition and excellent conduct of the Party, and enhance the sense of honor, responsibility and mission of the majority CPC members, more than 70 party members and lawyers of the law firm made a four-day red tourism to Chongqing in batches from June 3rd to 6th and from June 17th to 20th.
Chongqing is a famous national historical and cultural city, the origin of the “Hongyan Spirit” and the birthplace of Bayu culture, and is famous for its “hot pot” and “stilted buildings”. It is not only a beautiful mountain city with a charming night view and profound humanities, but also a city with the tradition of the glorious revolution. It is a place of admiration for contemporary youth and CPC members.
The first stop of our trip to Chongqing was the Black Mountain Valley Scenic Area, the first demonstration environmental protection scenic area in Chongqing. It is located at the junction of Chongqing and Guizhou, and adjacent to Nanchuan Jinfoshan and Guizhou Tongzi Baiqing Nature Reserve, with a forest coverage rate here of over 98%. The forests, waterfalls, caves, stones, and springs constitute a wonderful three-dimensional ecological landscape. Its climate is pleasant, with an average summer temperature of 22℃.
Walking through a ten-mile-deep canyon, we were as good as in a beautiful landscape painting. Getting out of the deep canyon, we found the scenery on all sides was suddenly open. We all forget the busy work on weekdays, and calmed down to enjoy the negative oxygen ions in the air. A carp river passes through the valley. The clear blue water gushes out in the valley, winds amidst the forest, and pours into the deep pool. All kinds of plank roads, suspension bridges, pontoon bridges, and Chongqing-Guizhou boundary bridges were connected in series, which made us found back the long-lost purity.
During the day, we enjoyed the coolness by enjoying the green mountains and beautiful waters. In the evening, we started an essential hot pot meal in Chongqing. We added our favorite food, and everyone found irresistible to the spicy food. This is the magic of Chongqing hot pot.
On the second day of the trip, we came to the Zhazi Cave (or “Cinder Cave” literally) at the foot of Gele Mountain in Chongqing. It was originally a small coal kiln, and was called Cinder Cave because it produced more cinder than the coal. Martyrs such as Luo Shiwen and Jiang Zhujun (Sister Jiang) were detained here. On November 27, 1949, Kuomintang agents massacred more than 200 detainees, and only 15 escaped. It was well known to the world for the novels “Hongyan” (or “red rock” literally”) and “11·27 Massacre”.
There, each cell is affixed with the introduction of the revolutionaries who were once imprisoned, and the various torture instruments in torture rooms were just shocking. The whips, soldering irons, chains, and handcuffs of the time were already rusty. Nonetheless, the worn old tables, chairs, and stools seemed to take us back to the old times. We were much moved by the martyrs who would rather die than give in with a tenacious revolutionary will. In the Cinder Cave and the White Mansion in Gele Mountain, we all attended a “special Party class”, where we felt the Hongyan Spirit, remembered the revolutionists, understood their original aspiration and drew on their strength of struggle.
Hongya Cave is definitely a must-see place in Chongqing. As one of the representatives of Bayu traditional architecture with a history of more than 2,300 years, it has deep ethnic characteristics and unique folk customs, and has witnessed the history and culture of Chongqing. The night view there is also famous in China, attracting many tourists. We also experienced the elevator that ran 10 floors under the ground for the first time. The prosperity we saw became the eternity under the lens. We all raised cameras to record the pattern of the old stilted buildings in the real-life version of Spirited Away, an amination by Miyazaki Hayao in which Chihiro accidentally walked into a different world by mistake.
After the visit to the Cinder Cave, came the last day of the journey. We came to the Zhou Mansion with reverence. Zhou Mansion is located at No. 50, the eastern end of Zhongshan Fourth Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It covers an area of 364 square meters and a construction area of 882 square meters. It was the office of the Southern Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in the urban area. The Military Group, the Cultural Group, the Women’s Group, the Foreign Affairs Group and the Party Group of the Southern Bureau were all located here. After the liberation of China, the Zhou Mansion was returned to the people. In 1953, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government built a memorial hall here. Premier Zhou and other leaders used to work here during the War against the Japanese Aggression.
We also visited Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao’s office and bedroom during this war. The interior furnishings were very simple. Premier Zhou spent countless sleepless nights, laying an indelible historical contribution to the victory of the War against the Japanese Aggression.
This trip to Chongqing ended with the visit to the “Eling Second Factory”, a very popular literary and artistic landmark at the moment. Its predecessor was the banknote printing factory of the Central Bank of the Republic of China. It was a mint specializing in the production of a series of printed materials such as daily food coupons, meat coupons, and vouchers. It later became an industrial heritage and finally evolved into the current cultural and creative Park, being a must-go place for everyone to relax on weekends and experience Chongqing culture.
The heroic land of Chongqing has witnessed the birth, development and bitter struggle of the CPC. This journey stimulated our patriotic feelings for the country and the Party. Our happy life today did not come easily. We shall never forget our revolutionary martyrs, but inherit their glorious traditions to pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party. Let’s us stay true to the original aspiration and founding mission.
