The lawyers’ participation in public welfare activities are incorporated into the annual Party building goals. They have walked into villages and the Park, provided legal aid, protected employees’ and women’s rights, and established mediation rooms, undertaking much legal public welfare work in multiple fields.

Since its establishment, Ronly & Tenwen Partners has actively assumed social welfare responsibilities and promoted the positive energy of the lawyer industry.

I. Actively provide services at grassroots communities and effectively establish a community relation with equality and rule-of-law

In recent years, Ronly & Tenwen Partners has actively fulfilled the social responsibilities by providing public welfare legal services in villages.

Since 2017, Ronly & Tenwen’ partners Wang Zhiyong, Gong Yi, Lu Yujiao and Wu Haijing etc. have led nearly 70 lawyers to participate in and provide legal services for nearly 130 villages in Xinzhuang Town of Minhang District, Beicai Town of Pudong New Area, and Caolu Town. They have served as legal counsel of the village committee, participated in co-construction and co-governance, and carried out public welfare activities.

Since the signing of the agreement on “Legal Services in Villages”, Ronly & Tenwen Partners has formulated a complete and strict legal service plan for village committee, comprehensively organized and implemented the “Legal services in Villages” program, set up a service platform in the sub-districts and towns, assisted in settling of disputes at grassroots community, and resolved conflicts at the grassroots level. Furthermore, the lawyers also participated in community mediation, carried out legal publicity, attended the village committee meetings, provided legal advice, helped settle the demolition disputes, and acted as an agent in civil disputes.

In the past three years, Ronly & Tenwen Partners has answered nearly 5,000 inquiries and held nearly 300 lectures, which has achieved good social results. This effectively promotes the construction of grassroots villages in Minhang District and Pudong New Area, popularizes legal knowledge and the concept of the rule of law to community residents, helps residents understand the basic principles and rules of the law, enhances their legal awareness, and strengthens their concept of the rule of law.

II. Escort enterprises in the Park in all directions and optimize the regional business environment

A total of 41 lawyers from 20 law firms in Minhang District’s Technological Innovation (Intellectual Property) Legal Advisory Group participated in the “Legal services in the Park” program, and the number of participating lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners accounted for nearly 30% of the total number of lawyers in the advisory group.

Lawyer Wang Shixi, a partner of Ronly & Tenwen Partners, served as the head of the Intellectual Property Legal Service Advisory Group of Minhang District. A total of 12 lawyers of the law firm provided the services to the Park.

A number of lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners provide public welfare legal volunteer services for Zero Bay Global innovation and Entrepreneurship Agglomeration Area, Zizhu Entrepreneurship Incubation Park, Liangu Emerging Science and Technology Industrial Park, Xinzhuang Industrial Zone Xinmin Oversea Studens Entrepreneurship Park and South Binjiang Park etc. through four main service methods such as online consultation, regular legal consultation, irregular legal lectures and docking with entrepreneurial legal mentors.

Up to now, they have provided more than 300 consulting services and received 289 personnel from entrepreneurial enterprises in the four major parks. Cumulatively, they answered 300 legal questions raised by entrepreneurial enterprises, and held 12 special lectures that covered 5 major sectors such as intellectual property rights, company equity, commercial contracts, labor employment, investment and financing. The cumulative number of participants reached 300, and more than 30 enterprises in the parks were docked.

The lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners use their expertise and practical experience skillfully in combination with the various business models, industry attributes, market environment and other specific circumstances of different enterprises, timely identify the legal risks of enterprises, and prevent and resolve legal and commercial risks out of maximization of corporates’ interests, which effectively solves some of the urgent legal problems and business puzzles faced by entrepreneurs in various science and technological innovation parks in Minhang District. They have been unanimously praised by the parks and the entrepreneurs, and achieved the original aspiration of the advisory group and the purpose of “legal services in technological innovation parks”, contributing to promotion of the national strategy of innovation and entrepreneurship, optimization of the business environment in Shanghai, and the economical and social development of Minhang District.
 

III. Act for vulnerable groups in legal aid cases

In the past five years, nearly 100 lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners have participated in the legal aid window, and the number of days on duty totaled nearly 400. Nearly 20 lawyers have undertaken the legal aid services of the Minhang District Judicial Bureau, and have successively acted in nearly 690 legal aid cases.

Ronly & Tenwen Partners arranges a number of lawyers to be on duty every month to answer visitors’ questions and solve their problems. They patiently listen to their complaints, and give them reasonable suggestions and help from the professional perspective of lawyers. Their professionalism, responsibleness, patience and warm services were well received by visitors.

Ronly & Tenwen Partners actively assumes social responsibilities, displays the sense of responsibility in the lawyer industry, lives up to the trust of the Minhang District Judicial Bureau, and better protects the legitimate rights and interests of the underprivileged.
 

IV. Participate in comprehensive social governance and be a helper for government departments

A total of 12 lawyers from Ronly & Tenwen Partners participated in the volunteer group of lawyers for protection of workers’ rights in Minhang District-the first one in the Shanghai Trade Union System. Over the years, the volunteer group has answered nearly a thousand inquiries and acted in nearly a hundred arbitrations and lawsuits.

A number of lawyers from Ronly & Tenwen Partners won the 2017-2018 Best Lawyer of the Year for Protection of Employees’ Rights, the Most Reliable Lawyer of the Year for Protection of Employees’ Rights, and the Most Enthusiastic Lawyer of the Year for Protection of Employees’ Rights in Minhang District.

In August 2020, the “Little Orange Lantern Voluntee Office” was jointly initiated by the Shanghai Information Network Security Management Association and Dongfang Fortune Information Co., Ltd. under the guidance of the Network Security Team of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau. Ronly & Tenwen Partners was hired as a volunteer service unit of the Office to provide legal aid and consulting services to netizens.

In November 2020, lawyers Zhu Jun, Ren Jie, Qiu Yingchun, Chen Ronglian, and Jin Ling of Ronly & Tenwen Partners lawyers were hired as the first “Special mediators for labor disputes in Minhang District”.

In addition, several lawyers from Ronly & Tenwen Partners were hired as members of the volunteer Group of the Shanghai Women’s Federation and the volunteers for the popularization of the Civil Code.

At the same time, Lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners also provide legal services to the Hongqiao Town Party Building Service Center and undertake the legal services for the Hongqiao Business District Lawyer Volunteer Group.

On June 16, 2023, Lawyer Wang Guogang, a partner of Ronly & Tenwen Partners, was hired as a member of the Minhang District Juvenile Protection Expert Volunteer Group, and was commissioned by the government department to draft the Legal Guidelines for the Guardianship System of Minors in Minhang District. The system empowers grass-roots juvenile protection workstations to solve the difficult problems in legal guardianship cases, provides more professional strength and support for these workstations in districts and towns (Xinzhuang Industrial Zone) in Minhang District, and further strengthens the capacity of grass-roots juvenile protection workstations in supporting family guardianship.

On October 23, 2023, Lawyer Yang Nan, a partner of Ronly & Tenwen Partners, led team members, lawyers Qin Shuyu and Huang Zhenfeng to assist the Jiading District Housing Security and Housing Administration in the smooth delivery of a commercial housing development project in Jiading District through participation in risk control and handling.

In the more than a year of hard work, the team of lawyer Yang Nan provided public welfare legal services for the project, making outstanding contributions to the risk management group organized and led by the district government for project risk control, the promotion of the smooth project construction, and the guarantee of the delivery of buildings, protection of people’s livelihood, and stability. The team of lawyer Yang Nan implemented the foregoing “three guarantees” required by the Party Central Committee, thereby helping more than 1,200 buyers in this project.

After the project was completed, the team received a letter of commendation from the administrative department of Jiading District and the home buyers’ silk banner that reads “Thanks for your caring for the people’s settlement and the contribution to the delivery of the houses”.

At the same time, a number of lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners also registered volunteers in Shanghai, and many other legal public welfare services have been highly praised by the Minhang District Committee, main leaders of the district government, the judicial bureaus at both the municipal and district levels, the entrepreneurship parks and the technological innovation enterprises, which has achieved good social results.

V. Respond to the government’s call and serve the people with expertise

During the epidemic outbreak from 2020 to 2022, the lawyers of Ronly & Tenwen Partners worked together with medical staff to serve the people with expertise. Ronly & Tenwen Partners gave full play to its professional advantages and provided professional legal services. During the epidemic, a number of lawyers published a number of epidemic-related articles through the law firm’s WeChat public account, give professional interpretation of the nature of holidays due to the control of Covid-19, the payment of such holidays, and the behavior of injuring doctors in the epidemic area from the professional perspective of law.

At the same time, Ronly & Tenwen Partners responded to the call of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice. 13 Party member lawyers took the initiative to signed up for volunteers, and set up a legal advisory service volunteer group to provide free online legal advisory services by answering the phone.

The team of lawyers Zhao Yang and Deng Yangyang provided legal services to relevant departments on matters related to the construction of the quarantine sites in Xuhui District and the deployment of anti-epidemic materials throughout the region, escorting the epidemic prevention and control with their professional capabilities. Lawyers Gou Xiaorong and Zhang Jian participated in the handling of cases such as Group property disputes during the epidemic, and provided practical public welfare legal services to help enterprises bail out and resume production.

In June 2022, under the guidance of the Institute of Public Legal Services of East China University of Political Science and Law and the general planning by Legal Vision, the law firm worked with 35 law firms to produce the Guide to Public Welfare Legal Services in the Fight against the Epidemic (2022). Ronly & Tenwen Partners was honored to work with other 34 participating law firms to brighten the love for all.
 

VI. Overcome the difficulties to actively devote to social welfare

During the epidemic outbreak from 2020 to 2022, Ronly & Tenwen Partners, as a comprehensive law firm, rallied the strength of its partners, lawyers, paralegals, or administrative staff to contribute to Shanghai’s epidemic prevention in different ways, which demonstrated Ronly & Tenwen Partners’s due sense of social responsibility.

On February 6, 2020, 76 boxes of more than 20,000 medical masks urgently purchased by Ronly & Tenwen Partners from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, were delivered to Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, via which they were further sent to front line of prevention and control in the Wuhan.

During the lockdown in Shanghai in the first half of 2022, Lawyer Qu Jianjun not only personally participated in the volunteer service for the community, but also donated protective materials to protect the safety of volunteers; Lawyer Liu Chijun was responsible for organizing volunteer services in his community, and also donated RMB 10,000 to the students of the Law School of Fudan University to purchase food and other items during the epidemic control; in addition to donation to the widowed and elderly, lawyers Sun Lijun, Wu Haijing, Ren Jie, etc. Also donated to the Shanghai Charity Foundation for its special anti-epidemic action; Lawyer Wang Sinan and his friends jointly donated more than 10,000 yuan of anti-epidemic supplies to Shanghai University of Political Science and Law. Zhong Qimei, director of the Office of Ronly & Tenwen Partners, purchased more than 100 meals for the anti-epidemic staff and the staff of the residential committee in her community to ensure the working order.

Many more colleagues from Ronly & Tenwen Partners, such as Zou Chaoming, Wang Shixi, Wang Haihua, Mao Jifu, Wu Haijing, Gu Lei, Liu Jinfeng, Sun Quan, Fang Xijin, Zhou Kehui, Wu Jianjun, Zheng Yiyun, Jiang Xiaqing, Zhu Kunwei, etc., though they were restricted in their communities during the epidemic control in Shanghai in 2022, still actively engaged in volunteer service by providing services in nucleic acid testing, material handling, antigen distribution, order maintenance, and epidemic prevention policy publicity and notification. No matter where they are, they reflect demonstrate the sense of social responsibilities of Ronly & Tenwen Partners.

In April 2022, Ronly & Tenwen Partners established a working group on “Fighting the epidemic and helping the elderly”, and delivered hundreds of supplies to the lonely elderly in difficulties.

In addition, on August 21, 2020, on behalf of the law firm, Lawyer Wang Shixi accompanied the delegation of the Minhang District Judicial Bureau of Shanghai to the Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, a city which is paired with Minhang District. The delegation carried out investigations and provided east-west paired support to the city. In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation donated RMB 100,000 to the Sanba Naxi Town of Shangri-La City, which was directed to the rural function improvement of Annan Village, Sanba Naxi Town.

 In August 2023, the Party branch of Ronly & Tenwen Partners raised 20,000 yuan in its “Donation to the disaster-stricken areas of Zhuozhou, Hebei” campaign, and donated it to the account designated by Zhuozhou City, which demonstrated the law firm’s love and empathy to Hebei.

VII. Build a mediation mechanism to settle disputes in a diversified manner

In 2018, Ronly & Tenwen Partners Mediation Office was established, and lawyers Qu Jianjun, Ren Yuping, Wang Shixi, and Xu Tian became the first mediators of the Office.

In 2020, lawyer Wang Guogang established the Shenzheng Legal Mediation Service Center of Shanghai Minhang District. So far, a total of 4,015 cases have been mediated under the People’s Mediation Service Program of the Pujiang Judicial Institute of the Minhang District Judicial Bureau; and a total of 558 cases have been mediated under the pre-litigation mediation program of Pujiang Town, Minhang District.

 Mediation is a very important part of the non-litigation dispute settlement mechanism and an effective way to settle conflicts and disputes in accordance with the law, and can help promote a harmonious relationship between the two parties to the conflict and alleviate the problem of difficult enforcement. Therefore, the establishment of the lawyer’s mediation office is of great significance. Ronly & Tenwen Partners has always given full play to this advantage of lawyers’ mediation.

VIII. Win the honor in public welfare through years’ dedication

In 2020, Ronly & Tenwen Partners won the “Outstanding Public Welfare Case 2017-2020 in the Chinese Legal Profession” for its large number of outstanding public welfare legal services and social responsibilities for other public welfare.

Through public welfare legal services in communities and the Parks, the law firm provides a full range of legal assistance to community residents and corporate employers. We have taken practical actions to deliver positive social energy and public welfare culture, inspire more people to pay attention to legal issues, participate in public welfare undertakings, and jointly build a harmonious and just society under the rule of law.
