Weng Cailin graduated from the School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing University and received a master’s degree in Law from East China University of Political Science and Law. As one of the founders of Shanghai Tenwen Law Firm in 2003, he led the team to develop into a well-known intellectual property law firm in China. Over the past 20 years of practicing, Mr. Weng has accumulated a wealth of experience in handling cases, especially cases involving intellectual property rights, overseas investment, financial securities, and radio, television, media and entertainment legal services, and enjoys a high reputation in the industry. Mr. Weng and his team undertook the task from the Shanghai Copyright Bureau in establishment of an intellectual property legal service workstation in Jing’an District, provided many professional services such as subject research, legal consultation and planning for the Copyright Bureau and the Intellectual Property Office, and won Shanghai Copyright Service Gold and Silver Awards. As a senior and well-known lawyer, Mr. Weng has always believed in the principle of “giving priority to clients’ interests”. Classic cases:

1.  Acted for a series of copyright infringement and unfair competition cases in sports events such as the World Cup and the European Cup. Among them, the first instance of the lawsuit against Xunlei ruled the highest compensation for copyright infringement of the year;

2.  Acted for the copyright party in a series of cases against various Telecom and Unicom for infringement of broadcasting organization rights and anti-unfair competition, which will become a landmark case for the protection of broadcasting organization rights;

3.  Acted for CCTV International Network Co., Ltd. in the lawsuit against Baidu on the infringement of the online broadcasting and copyright of the 2013 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, a case which clarified the connotation and extension of broadcasting rights for the first time;

4.  Acted for dozens of copyright rights protection cases related to the London and Rio Olympic Games;

5.  Acted for CCTV International Network Co., Ltd. in the lawsuit against Douguo Company and others for copyright infringement of A Bite of China, a case which was rated as a typical intellectual property case in Beijing;

6.  Acted as the full legal counsel of Beijing Satellite TV and Yuanchun Media’s large variety show Dream Maker;

7.  Acted for Animation International (Shanghai) Ltd. in a lawsuit against Zhangzhou Wanda Plaza Co., Ltd. for infringement of the image copyright of Doraemon and many other well-known cartoons;

8. Acted for China’s first P2P network MP3 network infringement case-Shanghai Busheng Music Culture Communication Co., Ltd. v. Beijing Flying Network Music Software Development Co., Ltd.;

9.  Acted for a Hong Kong record company in a lawsuit against Suzhou Catering and Entertainment Co., Ltd. over Karaoke screening infringement, which was one of the top ten intellectual property cases of the Supreme Court of that year;

10.  Acted for Zhou Haiying, the son of Lu Xun, in response to Shuiweiting’s reputation infringement;

11.  Acted for a music video company limited in a typical lawsuit against a Beijing network technology company limited and a Beijing interactive technology company limited for UUSEE live broadcast infringement;

12.  Acted for Rock Records & Tapes International Music Co., Ltd. in a lawsuit against a media chain company limited in Shanghai, a digital technology and culture development company limited in Sichuan etc. for infringement of audio and video productions, and other hundreds of copyright infringement of CD factories.
